I have been pleased to be associated with Dr. Nathan Waldman before there was a concept of a SPIDR. DRC has been developing technology for surface to downhole pressure measurement for the past 29 years in parallel with my ...

Frac Monitoring
Low-permeability oil and gas formations are frequently fractured to improve productivity.
The fracturing process is accomplished by pumping fluid into the reservoir at high rate and pressure until the reservoir rock fractures. By monitoring the wellhead pressure during the pumping process, the pressure at which fracturing occurs can be seen. The SPIDR can monitor the fracturing process at wellhead pressures up to 24,000 psi. The unit is unaffected by the pulsations of high-pressure, multi-stage pumps and the proppants that are frequently added to the frac fluid. Unlike the pressure monitoring systems used by the pumping service company, the SPIDR can remain on the well for long periods after the frac job is completed, as shown on the left.
