SPIDR Pre-Frac Injection Fall-off (DFIT) Analysis

By Adam Swartley | Mon, 21 Jun 2010

As more and more operators begin to develop tight gas reservoirs, we have seen the number of pre-frac injection / fall-off (also known as DFIT, MFO, Minifrac, Datafrac, G-Function, etc.) tests increase dramatically.  This test has been embraced by operators in historically low permeability areas as a short duration pressure transient test that will derive valuable reservoir parameters in order to optimize the stimulation process.  This test is being performed in both sand and shale reservoirs and applicable for oil and gas production.  Operators that perform these transient tests either have this analysis performed in-house or contract with outside consultants.  In an effort to continue to provide our customers with the best service in the industry we will now be offering complimentary DFIT analysis to our customers who rent DRC’s SPIDR gauge for use in DFIT tests.

Operators choose to use the SPIDR for these tests, because of its reputation as the highest quality wellhead pressure gauges on the market.  Data quality and frequency is especially important when performing these tests, because of their short duration and the analysis techniques themselves.  Even very small fluctuations (less than 1 psi) during these tests can render the analysis invalid.
