DRC's New Online Tool: Flowcom Web

At DRC we have found that there are many customers around the world who have difficulty downloading our Flowcom software from the SPIDR.com website. This software is used not only to communicate with the SPIDR, but also as a tool to view and edit MK2 files downloaded from the SPIDR. These difficulties are often due to certain internet security restrictions that are in place at many companies. The MK2 format is a highly compressed file format created by DRC. The MK2 format allows for the SPIDR to store much larger data files then would ever be possible if ASCII is used. This format also makes data processing much faster than any other commercial well testing software. Because the MK2 file size is smaller it is also much easier to email data files that would be too large in any other format. To use our web based Flowcom please visit our website here.

To assist our customers, we have added a new tool to our website, Flowcom Web. This is an online version of our Flowcom software that can be used to view and modify MK2 files. With this tool you can delete and filter records if you wish to decrease your file size. You can view and save plots of the data as JPEGs. If the SPIDR is used to collect flow rate data, Flowcom Web can be used calculate the flow rate from the raw data in the MK2 file. You can even create an ASCII file of Pressure and Delta Time to be used for creating a derivative plot.  It is still necessary to install Flowcom on your computer if you wish to communiate directly with the SPIDR.

One of the most frequent requests we receive here at DRC is to convert our SPIDR MK2 file to an ASCII .txt file. With Flowcom Web you can not only convert your MK2 files to ASCII, but you can also convert them to EXCEL .xls or .csv files. Finally if you wish to have DRC view or help you with your files you can simply click the Email File to DRC button and we will receive your file immediately.
