DRC's Owner and Founder, Dr. Nathan Waldman

Nathan Waldman graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  He received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Polymer Physics at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

Dr. Waldman joined The Dow Chemical Company and worked in positions ranging from Research to International Business Development.  Waldman left Dow for the Presidency of Cathodic Protection Services (CPS) in Houston, Texas.  CPS provided corrosion control services to off-shore production platforms and pipelines.  While at CPS, Dr. Waldman became familiar with data acquisition procedures for Pressure Transient Analysis in oil and gas reservoirs.  He recognized that this critically important technique failed to take advantage of existing technologies that could improve the quality and efficiency of the service.  Based on that recognition, he founded Reservoir Dynamics Inc. (RDI) in 1983 to introduce the latest electronic technologies to the field of Pressure Transient Testing.

In the course of providing this capital-intensive service, Waldman envisioned the concept of reservoir testing without well-bore intervention.  If the concept of Pressure Transient Testing from surface measurements could be proven, it would dramatically reduce the capital and risks associated with reservoir evaluation.  To develop the concept, Waldman sold RDI in 1985 and founded Data Retrieval Corporation.  By 1987, Pressure Transient Testing from surface measurements was being used extensively. Today Data Retrieval Corporation provides well testing services in most hydrocarbon producing regions of the world and is recognized as the world leader in reservoir testing from surface measurements.
